Dairy
Producers Celebrate America's Pastime
and America's Dairyland
Byline:
Mark Christenson, WMMB District #24 Director,
Dane and Jefferson Counties
Plan now to attend
the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board's Dairy Day at Miller Park on Sunday,
June 1, 2008. For the third consecutive year,
WMMB will pair the rich history of Wisconsin
dairy with the favorite pastime of baseball by teaming up with the
Milwaukee Brewers for a "Dairy
Day " game day celebration.
On Sunday, June 1, the 42,000 expected fans (a sell-out crowd) who
visit Miller Park will have the opportunity to taste dairy products
and walk away with a dairy-themed gift.
All active Wisconsin dairy producers will be offered half-price tickets
in reserved sections. Options available include
Terrace Reserved seats for $7.00 each (regularly
$14) and Loge Outfield Box seats for $13.00
each (regularly $26). All active dairy producers
were mailed a postcard with ordering instructions
and a discount code. If you are an active
dairy producer with an active license number
and did not receive a postcard but would like
to order tickets, contact WMMB at 800-383-9662
ext. 232 or e-mail producer@wmmb.org. Tickets
for this offer must be purchased by April 30,
2008. Tickets are available in limited quantities,
so call today! Tickets are not available for
this program at the ticket windows or from
the Brewers Website.
Place your order by April 15 for a chance to throw out the first pitch.
This year's first pitch will be especially exciting as it will be
thrown by a Wisconsin dairy producer – possibly you! Those producers
who purchase tickets by April 15 will be entered into a drawing to
be chosen to deliver the first pitch. The chosen winner will be contacted
before the game with further details.
Dairy Day will start with what's gearing up to be a mini-festival
outside the gates of the park. Prior to game time, a number of Wisconsin
companies will offer product tasting of their milk, ice cream flavors
and cheese. There will also be a mooing contest conducted prior to
the game.
The fun and education will continue inside. Each person
who walks through the gate will receive a collectible bobblehead featuring
the
2007 Rookie of the Year Ryan Braun, complete
with the Wisconsin Cheese logo. This collector's item will remind people
for years to come of
the important role dairy plays in Wisconsin.
Please join us for another successful Dairy Day at Miller Park. This
event gives us the opportunity to showcase our products, economic value
and entire industry to thousands of Milwaukee Brewers Fans and state
residents.
