Workshops

Our workshops are free and can be scheduled at convenient times and locations. They are appropriate for WSNA chapter meetings, SFS in-service and staff trainings. Some are also available for SNA continuing education credit. Contact your local WDC regional program manager to schedule one of the following:

  • Capture the School Milk Opportunity
Helps you and your staff understand what beverages your students are choosing at school. Find out about milk marketing opportunities available to schools, including new flavors, new packages and other options that will help you encourage students to drink more milk at school every day. Training provides you with tools to evaluate your milk program, make changes to increase your bottom line and improve the nutrition of the students you serve.

  • Winning with Wellness
Offering a variety of healthy foods and beverages in school does not guarantee the students will choose them or parents and teachers will know about their availability. In this workshop we will look at creative ways to win your students' participation in your school's breakfast and lunch programs and uncover additional revenue opportunities that exist. You'll also learn how to effectively market your foodservice program and services to be a champion in your school's healthy environment.

  • Expanding School Breakfast
Explores a variety of creative ways to get children to eat breakfast at school, including three alternate breakfast serving methods and the impact they may have on increasing morning meal participation. This session will help develop ways for school foodservice managers and staff to promote and market school breakfast to children, educators and parents for both new and existing school breakfast programs. Participating districts will be eligible to receive a single copy of the Expanding Breakfast training guide, available through the School Nutrition Association.

  • Have You Had Your Three Today?
Addresses the role of calcium in the diet and the importance of including three servings of calcium-rich milk, cheese or yogurt every day to help build stronger bones and healthier bodies. The 3-a-day guidelines will be presented along with ideas to implement the plan for you, your family and your school foodservice program.
